Dear Whispering Woods Neighbors,
Keeping our community safe remains one of the Board’s top priorities. We want to provide some clarification regarding the new speed-monitoring cameras being installed near our community entrances.
Why are cameras being installed?
Speeding has been an ongoing concern for several years. The previous Board considered installing speed bumps to slow traffic. The current Board explored an alternative that would improve safety without installing physical obstacles on our roads.
Previously, the Association relied on Coral Springs Police officers to monitor speeding for just a few hours each week at a cost of approximately $1,800 per month ($21,600 annually).
The current Board proposed speed-monitoring cameras to provide a more consistent approach to addressing speeding while reducing reliance on costly, limited police monitoring.
Speeding Policy — What Residents Should Know
- Obey posted speed limits. All residents, guests, and service providers are expected to drive safely throughout Whispering Woods.
- Speed monitoring: Cameras will help identify vehicles exceeding the posted speed limit.
- Warnings: Speeding violations may result in an HOA warning.
- Fines: Violations may be subject to Association fines in accordance with applicable enforcement procedures.
- Driver responsibility: Please remind family members, guests, and service providers to respect our community’s speed limits.
Unlike police-issued traffic citations, HOA violations do not result in driver’s license points.
Our goal is safety, not fines.
We want our children to be able to play, our neighbors to walk, and our families to enjoy Whispering Woods without unnecessary risks from speeding vehicles.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation as we work together to make our community safer, more responsible, and more enjoyable for all.
Slow Down. Drive Safely. Protect Our Neighbors.
Warm regards,
Octavia McDougle
